Over two million of our young men and women serve in the armed forces.  It's these men and women--and their families who experience most poignantly the sacrifice war requires.  It is to these "our children" and their families we honor in a "Life and Liberty" special this 4th of July weekend.

Brad Mattes is joined in an incredible exchange with his son, Army Specialist Nick Mattes by phone in Iraq, as well as a poignant "Dad to Dad" segment with WAVA's David Ruleman.  Also joining him is combat Army medic Daniel Ruleman, on his way back to Baghdad, Iraq, as well as Walter Reed's Dr. Chelsea Hamilton--who's volunteered for the Army's Airborne medical team in Afghanistan.
