Our speaker for the fall 2003 session of the Ezekiel Forum will be Gordon Franz, from Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Gordon is a Christian archeologist who works with the Lancaster, PA based Associates for Biblical Research (ABR) The organization has a web site that is located at www.christiananswers.net/abr/.
 

Gordon's presentation, entitled "Nahum, Ninevah, and Those Nasty Assyrians", features photographic slides taken at the British Museum in London. These show numerous objects on exhibition in the museum's Assyrian rooms, particularly bias relief carvings found on the walls of the palace of Ninevah's King Ashurbanipal II. The scenes depicted in the reliefs correlate to specific passages in the text of the book written by the minor Prophet Nahum, and Mr. Franz uses these ancient objects of art as very effective illustrations in his hour-long lecture on the book of Nahum.

Gordon Franz Bio: Gordon Franz is a Christian Archeologist who is as active in the field as he is comfortable at the lectern. He is a graduate of Florida Bible College (Bible) and Christian Heritage College (History) and finished his graduate work at Columbia Biblical Seminary (Old Testament). A former instructor at the Institute for Holy Land Studies in Jerusalem, he currently teaches Bible at New York School of the Bible, and lectures at Evangelical (Chinese) Misssion and Seminary in New Jersey. In addition he serves as adjunct Professor for the Talbot School of Theology "Bible Lands" program.

His archeological experiences include working on excavations at Jezreel, Lachish, Ramat Rachel, and several excavations in Jerusalem, including Ketel Hinnom where the oldest Biblical texts were discovered.

His series of slide illustrated seminars has enlightened many audiences, and it will be our privilege to welcome Gordon Franz to State College to present Nahum, Ninevah, and Those Nasty Assyrians, on September 6th.
