As a child growing up in a small community outside of McAlisterville, Pa., I took an interest in music at a young age. I spent a lot of time with my aunts, who had a large collection of 45's that we listened to quite often, as well as the local radio station. Somewhere around age 11 is when my interest in being a radio personality began. At age 13 I had my first opportunity to visit our local secular station to see how things operate. I had a great time and that increased my desire to be in radio even more. In 1978, I met the Lord and my music interests changed. I was introduced to southern gospel at that time and the rest is history.
In 1985, a new station came on the air in our area, which aired Christian music. In just a few weeks I visited the studio and talked with them about hosting a southern gospel show. I recorded a demo, they liked it, and in March of 1986 Southern Gospel Music Time hit the air waves. In 1989, we changed the program name to Saturday Afternoon Gospel. In the early 90's a change of events took place, and WQJU was sold to CPCI ministries. The show had been off the air for a few months, when Garry Sutley of CPCI contacted me, and stated that WTLR wanted to add a southern gospel program to their line-up. He asked if I would like to host it, I said yes, and that's how I got involved with CPCI ministries. Praise God!
Currently, I reside in McAlisterville with my wife Diane. We've been married for 22 years, and have 2 children. Toby is a junior at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and Heather is in her second year at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana studying physical therapy. I work as a Residential Service Aide at Selinsgrove Center on a full time basis and my wife is employed by Weis Markets. Personally I enjoy my music collection and working on special projects around the house. Diane and I attend Evendale Bible Church, enjoy going to concerts and visiting our children.
