This year's Sharathon theme is "FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS"   As always, this Sharathon will be just as fun, exciting and spiritually satisfying as in years past.   Sharathon is only 3 days in length.  That's right:  just 3 days!

There's a lot of great things going on in Sharathon 2007.   Check out the SHARATHON NEWS column at right and the Quick Links column on the left of this and every Sharathon 2007 page on this site.

Addressing the people in Antioch of Pisidia (Acts 10:36) the Apostle Paul gave a succinct but powerful testimony to King David: "For David, after he served his own generation, fell asleep [died], and was laid among his fathers [was buried]." Those few words capture the spirit of our Sharathon 2007. The focus may be on a different Biblical character, Queen Esther, but the substance of her actions and courage are the same as that of David.

At a time when the Jews were being vehemently opposed by Haman, the Agagite, Esther was called upon to do something daunting and brave. In response to the challenge of her cousin, Mordecai, she went before the king, possibly risking her own life in pursuit of a favor. She interceded on behalf of her people, the Jews. While it may have appeared hopeless for her to even try to reverse the king's edict (once the king had written a decree and sealed such with his signet ring it could not be altered), she nonetheless would not be deterred from her God-ordained mission. Of course, as you know from reading the book of Esther, her bold actions resulted in the rescue of her people and the exaltation of Mordecai.

We have chosen the theme "For Such A Time As This" (taken from Esther 4:14b) because of its relevance to our day. To be sure the Gospel and the work of God are strongly opposed by many. As with David and Esther all Christians, despite opposition, are called to be in the business of rescuing the lost and building up the found. And, there must be nothing that should detour or deter us from God's call.

We at CPCI take serious this call from God. Through our radio stations WTLR and WQJU, Camp Kanesatake, Puppets with a Purpose, and Ezekiel Forum we are passionately committed to bringing the Gospel to central Pennsylvania. It is our constant prayer that our Heavenly Father will bless our tireless efforts to the salvation of lost sinners and to the ongoing discipling of those who have entered the Kingdom.

To do such a daunting task requires teamwork and partnership. I want you to know, once again, how very important and valuable you are in answering this call with CPCI. Let me say 'thank you' in advance for all that you do.

Sincerely,

Ed Fleming
CPCI Director of Ministries

Thank you for your prayerful consideration to support CPCI during Sharathon!

We all agree that the Sharathon goal of $330,000 is a large sum of money to raise over just three days. That is just the reason it is so important that a significant amount of the goal be raised before the on-air portion of Sharathon starts. Can we count on you to help us get a running start toward the goal?

You can do that by filling out our On-Line Sharathon Faith Promise Form right now.    That way, the full amount of your faith-promise will be counted toward the Sharathon goal, and at the beginning of Praise and Prayer Day prior to the Sharathon proper on Monday October 3, we will announce our starting point. If we can begin the phone-in part of Sharathon with 50% of our goal committed it will be cause for great celebration. Your action right now can help us to a very significant milestone on the way to a successful Sharathon. So don’t delay, let us know how you intend to support the ministries of CPCI over the next twelve months.

Sharathon 2007: Fun, Uplifting & Encouraging Experience

Sharathon 2007 is now in the history books. The three days of Sharathon were fun, uplifting and encouraging. When we closed the Sharathon Thursday evening, our total was $276,597. While this was approximately 84% of our goal, we are truly thankful for so very many of you who made a faith promise of support.

Obviously, our need for funding God's work here at CPCI remains. If you didn't get the chance to make a faith promise yet, would you mind doing so now?  You can write us here at CPCI, 2020 Cato Avenue, State College, PA 16801. Or set up your faith promise here online by clicking the "Make A Faith Promise Button".

Again, from the depths of our hearts, THANK YOU to each and every one of you who support our ministry!

A portion of every Sharathon Faith Promise made goes to the mission field to help our brothers & sisters in Papua New Guinea build a Christian radio network!

For the past three years Way Truth Life Radio has given missionary support to Wantok Radio Light, a radio network in Papua New Guinea. Thanks to the generosity of our donors during previous Sharathons we have been able to help with the construction of a station in the city of Lae, satellite uplink capability, educational resources, and give a generous supply of solar powered fixed-tuned radios for distribution in the country.

When PNG Christian Broadcasting Network began operating Wantok Radio Light, the first office and studio space was in a rented three bedroom apartment building on the outskirts of Port Moresby. This extremely secure arrangement was vital in those early years for the placement of a missionary couple who lived in the same apartment from which the radio ministry began. Within the first two years, the growing radio ministry outgrew these facilities and relocated to a commercial rental facility in downtown Port Moresby where they have been for three years.
