Introducing Mike Kellogg
We welcome Mike Kellogg as a special in-studio guest during Sharathon, April 7th – 9th. Mike is a long-time friend of Way Truth Life Radio and is heard weeknights from 1:00am until 5:55am as host of Music Thru the Night.
Mike is a senior announcer with Moody Radio and has been with the Moody Bible Institute for over 30 years. He seeks to minister to the late-night listener, by presenting a relaxed yet direct message of the fullness of a life yielded to Christ. In addition to his duties as host of Music Thru The Night, Mike can also be heard on the two-minute daily broadcast Today in the Word.
He was the winner of the 1980-81 Religion in Media Award for his role in the dramatic radio presentation of Treasures of the Snow. He received his education at Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio. Mike and his wife, Nancy, have six children and 10 grandchildren and live in Valparaiso, Ind.
Introducing Sharathon
As you look at the news and see stories of increasing trouble worldwide. The kingdoms of men are falling: financial kingdoms are failing and we hear of political kingdoms collapsing in the Middle-east, yet God's kingdom remains secure.
"Your Kingdom Come" is our Sharathon theme for 2011 and it really sums up the heart of this ministry. We desire to see God's kingdom come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. In Matthew 6:33, Jesus says, "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things [that you have need of] shall be added". You see, friend, when we fix our eyes on Jesus and seek to see His kingdom come, we are putting God's priorities first. This opens up His provision for our needs.
For three days each year we reach out and ask you to partner with us in the ministries of Way Truth Life Radio and Camp Kanesatake. Support raised during Sharathon represents a significant portion of the finances required to operate for the next 12 months.
As you tune into Way Truth Life Radio during Sharathon you will hear encouraging stories of how God is at work, as we move towards our goal of funding the ministry for another year.
Many people have already let us know that they are standing behind these ministries with their commitment of financial support. They have helped get us this far. Will you join with us as we work towards "Your Kingdom Come"?
Join Us As A Faith Promise Partner
Call us with your faith promise of support: (800) 288-9857.
What is a faith promise?
A Faith Promise is a matter decided between you and the Lord. Once you have understood from the Lord what you are to trust Him to do through your giving, you let the recipient (us) know what are your intentions. Then, watch what God does through YOU!
FAITH: is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)
PROMISE: "A verbal commitment by one person to another agreeing to do something in the future" (Webster)
Years ago, whenever the Church endeavored to raise funds for the Lord's work, the idea of a "Faith Promise" was employed. Today, sad to say, this concept has been lost to the secular idea of a "pledge." Make no mistake about it: a "Faith Promise" and a "pledge" are vastly different things.
A "pledge" is a legally collectable debt between the donor and the non-profit organization. CPCI has nothing to do with "pledges." We believe in Faith Promises!
Roma Radio Outreach
This year we are partnering with TWR (Trans World Radio) to further their work in bringing Christian radio to the Roma people of Eastern Europe.
A portion of the funds raised during Sharathon 2011 will enable TWR to purchase and distribute solar-powered radios to give away. These radios are pre-tuned to local Christian radio stations that are broadcasting teaching and music in the Roma language.
Thieves, travelers, filthy pickpockets, liars, cheaters and inhuman—this is how much of the world sees the Roma people. They are outcasts, so they avoid larger communities. They are distrusted, so they distrust the outside world. They are unloved and told they are worthless, so imagine how they feel when told about the unconditional love of Jesus Christ.
"Radio is still the best tool to reach an oral community," says Stoyko Petkov, Director of TWR's National Partner in Bulgaria, Studio 865. "The Roma people live in their own districts, and the environment there is very bad. Poverty and high unemployment lead to crime and violence, and few of the children can get an education. SoTWR's radio programs for the Roma use a specific format of storytelling that attracts everyone. The spoken word is very important to them."
In Central and Eastern Europe, TWR and its National Partners are actively reaching the Roma through radio programs that are broadcast in the different dialects native to each Roma community. Studio 865, for example, began broadcasting to the Roma in 1996. Only months after the broadcasts began, listeners invited the producers of these programs into their villages. The Roma producers were surprised to find many of the villages full of committed listeners. Prayer groups were organized and, later, local churches.
Stoyko explains: "Here, Roma churches are more than houses of worship; Roma pastors are more than preachers. Their churches are their community centers and their pastors are their community leaders. And it all started with a radio program to reach them with the gospel."
The work began in Bulgaria, but has since spread to other countries as well. Today, TWR also has Roma programs in Albania, Hungary, Serbia, and Romania. In 2008, TWR Romania personally visited impoverished Roma villages. There, they distributed hundreds of solar-powered radios tuned to TWR's weekly broadcasts. Many of the Roma cannot read or do not have electricity in their homes.
Last summer campers and staff at Camp Kanesatake also supported this outreach and raised $1,136.84 for this project.
